Lillian Jones, Author of My Road Trip Guide for My Personal Journey
As a former teacher and later a diversity consultant, I have developed numerous training packets related to diversity, communication, anger management, stress, and more. As a rule, I would have a clear idea of the content and a plan to move forward to completion. Not this time. This project kept changing during the entire process.
My Road Trip Guide for My Personal Journey grew from the initial concept as I developed and practiced my listening skills. What was created was far more than I had envisioned, going from 60 pages to 189 pages. Listening within enabled me to incorporate content addressing relevant issues we all may be discussing daily, sometimes with limited knowledge or prior experience. This workbook provides diversity-related and life skills information we expect everyone to know because we know! It provides an opportunity to develop an understanding of “why” or the reasons we conduct ourselves as we do. Understanding “why” creates clarity and adds value to the actions that follow.
My Road Trip Guide for My Personal Journey can be a valuable tool if the reader is willing to take time to engage in the activities, reflect on the lessons learned, and incorporate this new knowledge into their daily lives.
"Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive."
"Just one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day."

“I really liked the piece on stereotypes and first impressions. The pictures reminded me of people I’ve seen. The activity to make lives for the people based on what I saw, and my imagination was way fun! I don’t think I’ll be stereotyping people any more, and I hope no one stereotypes me.”

“The workbook helped me realize I’m a much better listener than I am speaker. I don’t seem to pay a lot of attention to what I’m saying. But, I pay way more attention to what people say to me.”
